New England Patriots Winning Streaks

18 Wins in a Season
New England's 18 straight regular-season and playoff victories in 2007 represent the longest single-season winning streak in NFL history. The Patriots won 19 consecutive regular season games dating back to a 40-7 win over the Houston Texans at Gillette Stadium on Dec. 17, 2006. New England's 19-game regular-season winning streak is also the longest in NFL history, eclipsing the Patriots' 18 consecutive regular-season wins from Oct. 5, 2003 to Oct. 24, 2004. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the 2007 Patriots became the first major American pro sports team to open a season with 18 straight victories in more than 100 years, dating back to baseball's Union Association in 1884.

Undefeated Regular Season
The 2007 Patriots became the fourth NFL team to win all of their regular season games since the league was founded in 1920. The Patriots are the first team to accomplish the feat since the NFL season expanded from 14 games to 16 games in 1978. New England joins the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only teams to accomplish the feat since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. Including the 2007 Patriots, three of the four teams in NFL history to complete an undefeated and untied regular season have lost in the league championship playoff game.

Historic Output
The Patriots produced one of the most prolific offensive performances in NFL history during the 2007 regular season. New England scored an NFL-record 589 points for an average of 36.8 points per game. The Patriots outscored their opponents by an NFL-record total of 315 points – an average of 19.7 points per game.

  21 Consecutive Wins
Under the leadership of head coach Bill Belichick, the 2003-2004 New England Patriots set an NFL record for winning the most consecutive games 21.

Starting with Week 5 of the 2003 regular season, the victories continued through the post-season with wins in the AFC Divisional Playoff Game, the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl XXXVIII, and culminated with a win in Week 7 of the 2004 regular season. The winning streak spanned the course of more than 12 months October 5, 2003 to October 24, 2004.

A New Regular Season Record
By winning 18 straight regular season games, the Patriots broke another NFL record, one held since 1934 by the 1933-1934 Chicago Bears.

Hall of Fame Exhibit
On September 29, 2005, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, opened an exhibit honoring the Patriots' legendary winning streak. An official game ball from each of the wins makes up this one-of-a-kind display.

Highlight DVD
This record-setting streak has been chronicled in a 2-DVD box set (below) that includes highlights from each game, interviews with key players, and footage of the Super Bowl XXXVIII ring ceremony. A special added feature is Bill Belichick's "Belestrator" game film segments from his Weekly television appearance on Patriots All-Access during which he would preview the week's upcoming game.
