BB: Well, it was kind of a typical Jets-Patriots game there, you know. It comes down to the last
possession [and was a] hard-fought game. They made more plays than we did. We had some opportunities
in the first half that we weren't really able to take advantage of [like]
good field position down there. And of course that ultimately comes back to
be a problem.
We couldn't make any plays there defensively to get the ball back soon enough;
just really didn't have enough time there at the end. Like I said, they just made more plays than we did
and that's why they won. We just have to go back to work here, keep working to get
better at the things that we're not doing as well as we need to do. There's
really no shortcut to it or no secret. That's just where
we're at, that's what we need to do.
Q: Did they do anything with their
defensive play calling because it seemed like they were able to get some
guys to come free on blitzes?
BB: Yes, they blitzed a lot. They
normally pressure. We saw that in the first game. We have to do a better job with
it.
Q: Bill, why didn't [Doug] Gabriel play in the second half?
BB: We played all the receivers today. We played them all.
Q: I don't think he played in the second half.
BB: Yes, I don't think he did either. We played them all today.
Q: Was he injured?
BB: I don't think he's injured, no. No,
we played them all. We got them
all in there and they all got an opportunity to play.
Q: It seems like you guys got a real productive day out of Corey [Dillon]
and he really got off to a good start. Was it good to maybe see him get out
there and have that kind of production?
BB: Well, I mean there were some good things in the game, but
there weren't enough to win. I think that kind of leaves a bitter taste in
everybody's mouth. Regardless of what the positives were, we have to do more of them to come out
with more points than the opponent. And we didn't do that. There were some good things in the game but not enough of them. They all get
overshadowed by that.
Q: How much did you miss [Ty] Warren?
BB: It would be good to have all our players in there but we didn't.
Can't look back on it.
Q: Bill, was [Richard] Seymour dealing with some sort of injury in the
second half? It seemed like his playing time was really sporadic.
BB: No. We played all our defensive linemen.
Q: Any reason why he wouldn't be able
to [inaudible]?
BB: Yes, because it was a long, tough game. We
rotated everybody in there. Just like they did, just like everybody else
did. I'd say hardly any defensive linemen are out there every play in this
league. Not many of them.
Q: Do you think the field...
BB: It was the same for both teams – a pretty slow track. But it was the same for
both teams, so.
Q: When you saw Ellis [Hobbs] try to make that play, do you feel like
maybe Ellis could have maybe attacked the ball a little bit better there?
BB: I don't know. I was pretty far away from the play so I didn't
really get a
good look at it. I'm not sure.
Q: Bill, you rushed for 100 yards the first quarter, none in the second
quarter.
BB: Well, we were a little bit inconsistent in the game so I think we had
some opportunities, we just didn't take advantage of them in the first half.
When you have a long run, that always pushes the numbers; any time you get
one long play in there. So that helped. I mean they pretty much played what they
played. Sometimes they played it better than we blocked it, sometimes we
blocked it okay. We have to be more consistent.
Q: It looks like Tom [Brady] was off on his throwing.
BB: I don't know. You'd have to ask him
that. I don't know.
Q: How do you think he played today?
BB: Well, I just think as a football team there were plays
that we would all like
to have back, things we could have done better. No question about that. I
don't think anybody played a perfect game. I wouldn't say that. Or coached
one. |
