BB: OK. Well, it was a hard-fought
football game between two good teams. You just have to give the Colts credit—they
made more plays than we did [and] deserved to win. It was about as
competitive a game as you could get. They just made a couple more plays than
we did.
Q: Was there a certain point where it
became evident this was going to be a high-scoring shootout-type game?
BB: I don't know. You just keep playing to score, keep playing to stop them
... Not trying to predict the final score.
Q: How critical do you think the roughing the passer call was on the Colts'
last drive in that particular scenario?
BB: I don't know. I mean, there were a lot of big plays in the game.
Q: Did you feel like defensively you kind
of ran out of gas a little bit in the
second half, being on the field so much?
BB: Well, they're a hard team to stop. Both teams scored a lot of points
today. I don't want to take anything away from them. They do a good job.
Q: Was Eric Alexander starting maybe a product of
some matchups? He's so athletic. He can cover [Dallas] Clark down the seam
a little better, and that type of thing?
BB: We played the defenses we thought were the best for our football team
today. That's why we did them.
Q: What will you tell the team after this?
BB: I think that's between me and the team. We're obviously disappointed.
Q: Had you decided to run the ball on the last possession [inaudible] Gostkowski [inaudible] throw the ball [inaudible]?
BB: There were a lot of plays in this
game that were based on a look or based on what we thought was best on that
particular time at that situation. We did what we
thought was best. Some of them worked out, some of them didn't.
Q: Did you see any adjustments the Colts might have made?
[Peyton] Manning went to the tight ends and the backs a
little bit more in the second half.
BB: Look, they got everybody. I mean, they're a good offensive football team.
They use everybody. They run the ball, they throw it, and they throw it to everybody. They have a lot of guys
that can make plays. They execute very well. They're a good football
team. That's why they're in the Super Bowl.
Q: What did you think of Stephen [Gostkowski's] performance, making two
clutch kicks?
BB: Good kicks.
Q: Is this about as disappointing a loss that you've had as a head coach?
BB: I'm not ranking them right now.
Q: Your defense was stout for most of the regular season. What were the differences tonight
that it wasn't as stout?
BB: Like I said, they're a good offensive football team. I don't want to take
anything away from them. They do a good job. They're hard to stop. They made
more plays than we did.
Q: [Absolutely inaudible]
BB: We had some guys in and out.
Q: What did you say to Tony Dungy after the game.
BB: I think that's between me and Tony. |
